The Story of Hong Gildong / 홍길동전. The Robin Hood of Korea.
The Story of Hong Gildong is what my senior thesis was on.
I was always interested in this story, but I have never actually read the real book, as I have only watched the adaptations of the story. Being Korean myself, I wanted to learn not only about the story, but also the setting of the narrative, the era, and its rich history.
I picked my favorite, and important scenes from the novel to illustrate, and these are some of the pages from my book.
Dawn is my original story about Sage, a young apothecary, and Deene, an amnesiac who is found lost and unconscious in a forest by Sage.
Sage finds him leaned against a tree while she was scavenging herbs, and ultimately decides to help Deene remember who he is, where he came from, and what happened to him.
As they delve into the mysteries that surround Deene, they aren’t prepared for what they will unravel…
Deene & Sage
Backgrounds, mostly sceneries that I painted in my time. Interestingly, most of them have a nostalgic, and/or a calm feeling to them.
An assortment of finished illustrations.
Stargirl is zine about a girl, who contemplates life and existence by using the galaxy and its stars as symbols.
Some fun digital sketches (of mostly characters) that I did on the iPad (Art Studio Pro), or on the Cintiq (Photoshop).
